It was in 1987 that Thomas E. Bulleit Jr, Vietnam War veteran, realised his dream by creating the Bulleit Distilling Company in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. There he produced a Bourbon according to a recipe handed down for 5 generations, invented by his ancestor Augustus Bulleit, a Frenchman who emigrated to the United States between 1930 and 1840. The quality of the water naturally filtered by limestone, the aging in oak barrels American burnt and the omnipresence of rye are the keys to the success of this Bourbon, which has won time and time again.
Bulleit Bourbon is distilled and aged in the Bulleit family tradition. High rye content gives it a bold, spicy character with a distinctively smooth, clean finish. Kentucky limestone-filtered water provides a foundation for the bourbon's character, while charred American oak barrels lend a smoky backbone. Our ageing philosophy is simple: we wait until our bourbon is ready.
